“O Israel, trust in the LORD; He is their help and their shield. O house of Aaron, trust in the LORD; He is their help and their shield. You who fear the LORD, trust in the LORD; He is their help and their shield.” (Psalm 115:9-11 NKJV)
“So trust in the LORD, all his people. For he is the only true hero, the wraparound God who is our shield! You, his priests, trust in the Lord. For he is the only true hero, God-wrapped-around-us as our shield. Yes, all his lovers who bow before him, trust the Lord. For he is our only true hero, God-wrapped-around-us as our shield.” (Psalm 115:9-11 TPT)
“O Israel, trust the LORD! He is your helper and your shield. O priests, descendants of Aaron, trust the LORD! He is your helper and your shield. All you who fear the LORD, trust the LORD! He is your helper and your shield. (Psalm 115:9-11 NLT)
“O Israel, trust and take refuge in the LORD! [Be confident in Him, cling to Him, rely on His word!] He is their help and their shield. O house of Aaron, trust in the LORD; He is their help and their shield. You who [reverently] fear the LORD, trust in the LORD; He is their help and their shield.” (Psalm 115:9-11 AMP)
“Israel, trust in the LORD! He is their help and shield. House of Aaron, trust in the LORD! he is their help and shield. You who fear the LORD, trust in the LORD! he is their help and shield.” (Psalm 115:9-11 HSCB)
“For the House of Israel trust upon the LORD JEHOVAH; he is their helper and their support! For the House of Aaron trusts upon the LORD JEHOVAH; he is their helper and their support! The worshipers of LORD JEHOVAH trust upon LORD JEHOVAH; he is their helper and their support!” (Psalm 115:9-11 ABIPE)
I am writing this on a Sunday morning prior to heading to my local gathering of believers (Church) for a time to worship the Lord corporately. As I read Psalm 115:9-11, my mind is filtering what is being said through the religious practice by which I celebrate the LORD’s Day each week (going to Church).
I can see the writer of this Psalm talking to my Pastor in verse 9. As the leader of this local body of believers it is his responsibility to lead us. It is going to be very difficult for him to lead us into an area in which he has not already gone. The Apostle Paul put it this way, “Become followers of me, as I also [am] of Christ.” (1 Corinthians 11:1 Literal Standard version). I can hear Daddy saying to Pastor Duane, “Duane, trust Me and teach my children to do the same. Show them that I am your protector and greatest supporter.”
I can imagine Daddy then turning from my Pastor and addressing my Worship Pastor in verse 10. He is giving the same words of advise, “David, as you worship Me, and lead my children into worship, trust Me, and help them to see that I am their protector and greatest supporter.” It is one of the primary responsibilities of those who lead to lead first by action, and then by word.
Finally, as I move into verse 11, I can see Daddy turning to me (and all of us in the congregation) and saying, “For the rest of you, don’t simply watch and cheer on your leaders, you also can trust me. Know that with, or without them to lead you, I am your protector and greatest supporter.” I have direct access to my Daddy and He is in direct contact with me.
Know that the Creator, your heavenly Father, cares about you today! He is wrapped around you. He protects you. He provides for you. He is your hero! Consider that as you think about…
