…”and said, ‘Assuredly, I say to you, unless you are converted and become as little children, you will by no means enter the kingdom of heaven.” (Matthew 18:3 NKJV)
“Assuredly, I say to you, whoever does not receive the kingdom of God as a little child will by no means enter it.” (Luke 18:17 NKJV)
“And they were bringing children to him that he might touch them, and the disciples rebuked them. But when Jesus saw it, he was indignant and said to them, ‘let the children come to me, do not hinder them, for to such belongs the kingdom of God. Truly, I say to you, whoever does not receive the kingdom of God like a child shall not enter it.’ And he took them, laying hands on them.” (Mark 10:13-16 ESV)
There are probably many more characteristics of being like a child that we could chat about. However, I am going to stop for now with one more. A child does not place limitations on the things he or she thinks about. They do not limit their imagination. In children’s minds there is nothing that they cannot do or be when they grow up. Sadly, most times it is the parents, older siblings, relatives, teachers, etc. that teach them to set limits.
I wonder what would happen if from a child’s earliest age that child only heard messages and/or saw images that told him or her that there were no limitations? Can you imagine how much higher we would fly if we didn’t think we were earthbound? Unlimited thinking comes naturally. Limitations are learned.
The more that I begin to recognize who Jesus is the more I begin to reawaken to life’s possibilities. The more that I understand who I am in Christ, the higher my expectations rise. The deeper my awareness of the fact that I am already living from the Kingdom of Heaven now, the less limited my thinking becomes. Little by little the Spirit communicates to my spirit that I am a son of God with the fullness of the Kingdom within me. I already possess all that Heaven has to offer. I am limitless!
No wonder Jesus taught me as his disciple to expectantly pray, “Heavenly Father, I worship you in your holiness. Your Kingdom come (manifested and demonstrated in my life), Your will be done (your original desire and design for me) on earth (my dwelling place here and now) as it is in heaven (Your dwelling place in which I am already seated in Christ).”
There is so much more that could be written, but instead my challenge to all of us is that we take some time to ponder this more fully after finishing our consideration of…
