“…the eyes of the LORD roam to and fro over all the earth, to show Himself strong on behalf of those whose hearts are fully devoted to Him…” (2 Chronicles 16:9 BSB)
“Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil walks about like a roaring lion, seeking whom he may devour.” (1Peter 5:8 NKJV)
“The thief’s. (Satan) purpose is to steal and kill and destroy. My (Jesus) purpose is to give them a rich and satisfying life.” (John 10:10 NLT)
It is amazing how the Heavenly Father’s love for mankind can be seen throughout the Old Testament as He continually made covenant with His created children rescuing them from extinction through sin. He continually reached out to ensure the preservation of a bloodline for the coming Messiah in order to save His fallen creation.
“The Lord isn’t really being slow about his promise, as some people think. No, he is being patient for your sake. He does not want anyone to be destroyed, but wants everyone to repent.” (2 Peter 3:9 NLT)
When Adam and Eve broke covenant and chose Satan over Him, He covered them with the first blood sacrifice.
“According to the law, in fact, nearly everything must be purified with blood, and without the shedding of blood there is no forgiveness.” (Hebrews 9:22 BSB).
Then He protected them from eating prematurely of the tree of life in their fallen state by removing them from the Garden and blocking the way of temptation to repeat what they did with the tree of the knowledge of good and evil by sealing the entrance to the Garden.
When the human race was on the verge of extinction, through sin and rebellion, He saved Noah and his family as He purged creation. He protected them from suffering the consequences of sin by way of the flood.
“For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.” (Romans 6:23 NKJV)
He then extended His covenant with Adam to Noah, once again preserving the bloodline to the coming Messiah. After Noah followed in Adam’s footsteps and broke the covenant through sin, over time the Lord reached out once again and extended His original covenant with Adam to Abraham who became the Father of our faith through which Christ would come.
The Father’s plan of redemption which He established before creation, based in His great love for us, can be seen shining through the clouds of the Old Testament, when you read it through the life, ministry, and words of Jesus recorded in the Gospels.
God’s greatest desire has always been, and always will be, to bless His children. It amazes me what great lengths He has gone through, and continues to go through, to give every person opportunity to join His Family, and enter into the original covenant blessings He established with Adam which He has preserved throughout history.
The more I know Jesus in whom the Godhead dwells bodily, the perfect representation of the Father, the more I see the Father’s grace extended to those He created from Genesis through Revelation.
