“And this is the promise that He Himself made to us: eternal life.” (1 John 2:25 BSB)
“The thief does not come except to steal, and to kill, and to destroy. I have come that they may have life, and that they may have it more abundantly.” (John 10:10 NKJV)
“And because of his glory and excellence, he has given us great and precious promises. These are the promises that enable you to share his divine nature and escape the world’s corruption caused by human desires.” (2 Peter 1:4 NLT
We are continuing to talk about the “quality” of “eternal life.” When I was adopted back into the family of God through salvation I was given the very life (zoe) of God. This is the abundant life of Jesus referred to in John 10:10.
In the Old Covenant (prior to the Resurrection) those following Yahweh were spiritually dead inside. The best that they could do was look out and up hoping for help from above. Now, in the New Covenant, I have been born again, and am able to look within where the Holy Spirit resides and the Kingdom of Heaven has been deposited. The Apostle Paul described this with the directive to “work out your salvation.” I am able to reach inside of my recreated spirit, and partnering with the Holy Spirit, bring out from it everything that Heaven has to offer in order to renew my mind (save my soul), quicken (add life to) my body, and impact the world around me with the benefits the Kingdom of Heaven. I already possess “eternal life” (the quality of life that belongs to my Father who is the source of life). This is also described in scripture as being a “partaker” of the “divine nature.”
I am going to stop here and hand off the challenge to whoever is reading this to explore the depths of “eternal life.” I am simply attempting to wet our taste buds to create a desire to “taste and see that the Lord is good.” I challenge each of us to dig into the Word and go as deep as the Spirit will take us into…
