“I will say of the LORD,”He is my refuge and my fortress; my God, in Him I will trust.” (Psalm 91:2 NKJV)
“He’s the hope that holds me and the stronghold to shelter me, the only God for me, and my great confidence.” (Psalm 91:2 TPT)
“This I declare about the LORD: He alone is my refuge, my place of safety; he is my God, and I trust him.” (Psalm 91:2 NLT)
“I will say of the LORD, “He is my refuge and my fortress, my God, in whom I trust [with great confidence, and on whom I rely]!” (Psalm 91:2 AMP)
“I will say to the LORD, “My refuge and my fortress, my God, in whom I trust.” (Psalm 91:2 HCSB)
“He said to LORD JEHOVAH, “My trust, my refuge place, God upon whom I trust!” (Psalm 91:2 ABIPE)
In Psalm 91:1 I was introduced to the location in which I can find shelter and rest in the midst of my enemies. I met the One in whom I am connected to that protection. When I “dwell” and “abide” in Him I am safe and secure. I am free from worry and able to rest through any storm.
Psalm 91:2 tells me how to activate the promise of verse 1 in my life. The verse starts with the phrase, “I will say…” “This I declare…” is a very powerful statement. Spoken Words are the most powerful force in all of creation. It was through the “Word” spoken that the Creator called into existence everything that now exists. It was through His spoken words that “The Word,” Jesus Christ, controlled nature, conquered every sickness and disease, cast out demons, created food, and commissioned His disciples to do even greater works that He did.
The Scriptures are bursting at the seams with verses setting forth the power of spoken words. My words are containers for either faith or fear, and through them I release spiritual power that brings either life or death. There are things that I need to say “to the Lord,” and things that I need to say “of the Lord,” in order to activate the “Word” in my life. The protection that is mine as I live in the “secret place of the Most High” flows out of me as I make public declarations of the Word.
Our challenge is to ponder this dynamic truth and allow the Holy Spirit to reveal to us what words we have been speaking that have created our present life situation. He will lead us to replace those words with words that will create the life that we desire to live.
