“Surely He shall deliver you from the snare of the fowler and from the perilous pestilence.” (Psalm 91:3 NKJV)
“He will rescue you from every hidden trap of the enemy, and he will protect you from false accusation and any deadly curse.” (Psalm 91:3 TPT)
“For he will rescue you from every trap and protect you from deadly disease.” (Psalm 91:3 NLT)
“For He will save you from the trap of the fowler, and from the deadly pestilence.” (Psalm 91:3 AMP)
“He Himself will deliver you from the hunter’s net, from the destructive plague.” (Psalm 91:3 HCSB)
“He is the one who shall deliver you from the snare of scandal and from worthless speech.” (Psalm 91:3 ABIPE)
Thus far the writer of Psalm 91 has introduced me to the One in whom I am protected, the place in which I will find that protection, and the primary way in which that protection is activated in my life. As I recognize my Protector, identify with His protection, and declare that protection publicly, I release that protection into the atmosphere surrounding me. That protection, released from within me by my words, causes my enemies to flee in stark terror. This truth is clearly expanded on in the New Testament teachings of Jesus and the Apostles.
Verse 3 speaks of being “rescued” and “delivered,” from the “traps,” “snares,” and “nets” of the enemy. Those traps are identified as “false accusations,” “deadly curses,” “scandal,” and “worthless speech.” Life and death are in the power of the tongue. Words are the major battle ground of life. Whether it be the words of the enemy spoken to, and about, me; or the words that I speak out of my own mouth; words can be traps that bring on “perilous pestilence,” “deadly disease,” or “destructive plague.”
As I align the words that I speak, and the declarations that I make, with the Word of my Protector, I am rescued and delivered from the snares and traps of my enemies. There is a very powerful principle of “agreement.” I will experience the impact of what, or who, I enter into agreement with. When I agree with sickness, I experience to a greater degree that sickness. When I enter into agreement with healing I begin to experience the health that I was created to live in. I will have what I say.
Let’s think deeper about the words that we speak, and the declarations that we make. Am I experiencing deliverance? Am I being rescued? Am I in alignment with my Protector, or my enemy? With whom am I entering into agreement?
Let’s think about these things as we meditate on…
