“You shall tread upon the lion and the cobra, the young lion and the serpent you shall trample underfoot.” (Psalm 91:13 NKJV)
“You’ll even walk unharmed among the fiercest powers of darkness, trampling every one of them beneath your feet.” (Psalm 91:13 TPT)
“You will trample upon lions and cobras; you will crush fierce lions and serpents under your feet.” (Psalm 91:13 NLT)
“You will tread upon the lion and cobra; the young lion and the serpent you will trample underfoot.” (Psalm 91:13 AMP)
You will tread on the lion and the cobra; you will trample the young lion and the serpent.” (Psalm 91:13 HCSB)
“Upon the vipor and upon the cockatrice you shall tread, and you shall trample the lion and the dragon.” (Psalm 91:13 ABIPE)
Psalm 91:13 (NLT) reminds me of what is written in Luke 10:19, “Look, I have given you authority over all the power of the enemy, and you can walk among snakes and scorpians and crush them. Nothing will injure you.”
I know that my enemy, the devil, is refered to as a dragon and a serpent. And the Apostle Paul makes it very clear that the enemies that I am confronting are not people, or literal animals, but Satan and his demon army. Look at Ephesians 6:12 (NLT), “For we are nor fighting against flesh-and-blood enemies, but against evil rulers and authorities of the unseen world, against mighty powers in this dark world, and against evil spirits in the heavenly places.”
Once again, I am encouraged, and emboldened, to face whatever comes my way with a victorious mindset. I am in the midst of a spritual war that has already been won. Jesus has already decommissioned Satan. In His sinless life, death, burial, resurrection, and ascension Jesus took back everything that Adam gave away. Prior to the completed work of redemption these evil spirits had ruling authority in this earth. Now they are outlaws trying to deceive me into giving them authority. The only power and/or authority they have in my life is what I grant them when I come into agreement with their lies. When I believe the lies I empower the liar.
I am promised a life in which I have complete power and authority over everything, and anything, that comes against me. If my life is anything less that victorious, then I should be going to my Daddy so that He can give me the wisdom and insight to overcome whatever currently is holding me down. As James wrote in James 1:5 (NLT), “If you need wisdom, ask our generous God, and he will give it to you. He will not rebuke you for asking.” I have been in a number of positions throughout my career in which I was a “trainer.” One of the things that I would tell anyone I was training was that, “The only ‘stupid’ question, is the one that you don’t ask.” I tried to train with words and actions that communicated that I would never make someone feel uncomfortable for asking me a question. Even if they had asked it before, or thought that they should already know what they were asking, I encouraged my trainees to ask away. When I am getting beat up in life, and it feels like I am losing, and I know that I have everything needed to win, I run to Daddy for help. I refuse to let pride, or fear of reprisal, stop me from running to the One who has what I need to succeed. Even when my troubles are due to things I have said and done, and I know beyond a shadow of a doubt that my current predicament is my “fault,” I have learned to run to my Daddy. He reminds me of who I am, retrains me if needed, fills me with His strength, and sends me back with a fresh outlook and victorious mindset. Time to kick enemy butt!
I will rise up and stomp on my enemies as I remember…
