“But his delight is in the law of the LORD, and in His law he meditates day and night.” (Psalm 1:2 NKJV)
“His passion is to remain true to the Word of “I AM,” meditating day and night on the true revelation of light.” (Psalm 1:2 TPT)
“But they delight in the law of the LORD, meditating on it day and night.” (Psalm 1:1 NLT)
“But his delight is in the law of the LORD, and on His law [His precepts and teachings] he [habitually] meditates day and night.” (Psalm 1:1 AMP)
“Instead, his delight is in the LORD’s instruction, and he meditates on it day and night.” (Psalm 1:1 HCSB)
“But his pleasure is in the law of LORD JEHOVAH, and in his law he will meditate day and night.” (Psalm 1:1 ABIPE)
There is such a contrast between verses 1 and 2 of Psalm 1. In verse 1 the influence, and direction setter, is the person I am hanging out with. The words and lifestyle of my companions dictate my thoughts, words and actions. I am walking, standing, and sitting in places that are chosen for me by the influence of “bad company.” Look at what Paul wrote in First Corinthians 15:33 (BSB), “Do not be deceived, bad company corrupts good character.”
In verse 2 the influencer is the “word of the Lord.” To use the terminology of verse 1, I walk, sit, and stand, in the presence of my Daddy as I meditate on what He is telling me. The “blessed man” gets his counsel directly from the One who Created Him. He is passionate about the “Word of I AM.”
So here is the greatest part of this. I am already a “blessed man.” I am created in the image and likeness of my Daddy, and have been completely restored and reconciled in my relationship with Him through the finished work of redemption. By meditating on everything that my Daddy tells me I am able to see my true identity. As I see my true identity I am able to make whatever changes are needed to think, speak, and act in alignment with who I am. I no longer look to those around me for my identity. I no longer try to keep up, or fit in, with those who are trying to influence me.
The questions of the day are…
…Who, or what, am I delighting in?
…Who, or what, am I passionate about?
…Who, or what, am I meditating, pondering, fixating, focusing my mind and affections, on?
There is definitely much to consider with…
