“But God hath chosen the foolish things of the world to confound the wise; and God hath chosen the weak things of the world to confound the things that are mighty.” (1 Corinthians 1:27 KJV)
“But seek first the Kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added to you.” (Matthew 6:33 NKJV)
“But my God shall supply all your need according to his riches in glory by Christ Jesus.” (Philippians 4:19 KJV)
Over the next few days I am going to share the details of my “Late Life Assignment” which was given to me just before I turned 60. For almost 5 years the Lord has been taking me deeper into just what this assignment is all about. Before we dive into this there is a principle that I have learned that is critical to the success of any late life assignment that you or I may be given.
Here it is…
…The activation is in the assignment.
God will never call you to do anything that he will not equip you to do. However, rarely will he fully prepare and provide in advance. He told Abram to get up and go without tellng him where he was going. He told Abraham and Sarah that they would have a child long after they were able to produce a child. Gideon was given an assignment that he had absolutely no means to accomplish. Jesus called Peter out of the boat without teaching him how to walk on water.
What I have come to realize is that everything needed to succeed is contained in the asignment itself. With each step of obedience that I take, whatever is needed will be provided. The Red Sea didn’t part until the first Israelite stepped off the shore.
If you are anything like me, you like to have all of your ducks in a row. You probably feel far more safe and secure stepping into anything new if you have full understanding of what you are getting into, a clear plan of action, and the resources to fulfill the plan. Guess what? While that may fit nicely within our comfort zones, it demands little to no faith or obedience. These are the top 2 ingredients required in Kingdom Living. Without faith it is impossible to please God. Without the level of trust and obedience required to step into the darkness without a flashlight we will never experience all that God has for us.
The Bible gives us examples of people who were too old to fulfill the assignments that were given to them. There were others who lacked the resources to succeed. Still others who had the wrong background, or were from the wrong tribe. He chose many who you and I would not have chosen. They would not have even chosen themselves. And yet, as each of them stepped out of the boat to step into the assignment given to them everything that they needed was provided at just the right time.
Today there is a growing revival among the youth in America. There is a current move of the Spirit that is sweeping across the University campuses from coast to coast. Along with this, I am convinced that we are about to see a great reawakening among those 55 and older that will shake the Body of Christ and turn this world upside down. I am convinced beyond a shadow of doubt that there is going to be (actually it has already begun) an outpouring of Joy (strength), Youth (stamina), and Peace (stability) on “senior saints” for the expansion of the manifestation of the Kingdom of Heaven on Earth (here and now) like never before.
My Daddy (my heavenly Abba Father – Daddy Papa) has given me the assignment to partner with him in the “Rise of the New Caleb Generation.” As a 64 year young man of God I am thrilled to be chosen to be a part of what God is doing in this earth. I am humbled that he chose me to partner with him in something this important. There is no way that I would have chosen myself for this. But God did. I do not have the background, resources, connections, talents, or charisma to make this happen. What I do have is a fervent unshakable expectation that it will happen based on the Word of the Lord that has been revealed to me by the Spirit and the Scriptures.
I am willing to step out in faith and obedience and go even though I do not yet know where I am going. I am willing to walk on water even though I don’t have a clue how to do it. I am willing to look like a fool to those who do not yet have eyes to see or ears to hear, and to suffer whatever opposition may come as I go where few are currently going. I am willing to do this with great anticipation of experiencing the manifestation of the Kingdom of Heaven (here and now) like never before even though I do not yet see it. I am inviting YOU to join me with confidence, because I have learned…
