“Then you will not become spiritually dull and indifferent. Instead, you will follow the example of those who are going to inherit God’s promises because of their faith and endurance.” (Hebrews 6:12 NLT)
“But the Holy Spirit produces this kind of fruit in our lives: love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control. There is no law against these things! “ (Galatians 5:22-23 NLT)
“Rejoice in hope, be patient in tribulation, be constant in prayer.” (Romans 12:12 ESV)
Time heals all…
..Does it?
Time tends to dull the pain. It seems to make things a bit more tolerable to accept and live with. However, I seriously question its ability to heal anything. When it comes to petitioning God, the passing of time many tmes (that seems a touch redundant) causes a person to question their request. It tends to make it harder to hang on to the faith that originally prompted the action taken. Ultimately, if allowed, the passing of time will move a person to rethink the very promise on which they came to God in the first place.
I want everything instantly. That’s a miracle. While there is nothing wrong with that, most things are accomplished through a process. Miraculous healing, provision, or deliverance takes place in a heartbeat. The process of healing, provision, or deliverance may take hours, days, weeks, or in some cases years. That is not what we want to hear, but it is true.
Faith that produces fruit (results) requires a balance between urgency and patience. I pray expecting instant results and then continue believing when those results take time. This is not an easy road to walk. That is why it is called the “good fight of faith” and why we are encouraged not to “grow weary in well-doing.” We have an adversary, so sometimes we need to take what belongs to us in the Kingdom by force. There are occasions in which my timing is not God’s timing which requires that I hurry up and wait. I am able to grow while waiting. The process, whether battling my enemy or waiting on my Father, makes me stronger. After all, hasn’t it been said that “whatever doesn’t kill me makes me stronger?”
