“But the mercy of the LORD is from everlasting to everlasting on those who fear Him, and His righteousness to children’s children.” (Psalm 103:17 NKJV)
“But Lord, your endless love stretches from one eternity to the other, unbroken and unrelenting toward those who fear you and those who bow facedown in awe before you. Your faithfulness to keep every gracious promise you’ve made passes from parents, to children, to grandchildren, and beyond.” (Psalm 103:17 TPT)
“But the love of the LORD remains forever with those who fear him. His salvation extends to the children’s children.” (Psalm 103:17 NLT)
“But the lovingkindness of the LORD is from everlasting to everlasting on those who [reverently] fear Him, and His righteousness to children’s children.” (Psalm 103:17 AMP)
“But from eternity to eternity the LORD’s faithful love is toward those who fear Him, and His righteousness toward the grandchildren.” (Psalm 103:17 HCSB)
“The grace of LORD JEHOVAH is from eternity unto eternity upon his worshipers and his righteousness to their children’s children.” (Psalm 103:17 ABIPE)
Psalm 103:17 starts with another big “but.” This “but” causes me to pause and take note of why it is there. When I find a “but” I know that it means that what comes after changes what came before. David wants me to realize that even though I am weak and limited in myself (verses 13 – 16), I am without limit in my relationship with my Daddy. This is a foreshadowing of what becomes very clear in the New Testament. This is prophetic language pointing to the life that I possess in Christ due to the finished work of redemption. Even during the pre-cross days of David, God’s love, mercy, and grace were without limit. The life that I receive from being one with my Daddy removes the death that I have brought on myself.
I am a “new creation” in which no sin, sickness, lack, or death resides. Those things are all around me, and may try to attach themselves to my soul (mind) and body, but they have no place in me (spirit). It is up to me which Kingdom I will claim and proclaim. I can choose to live dominated by the Kingdom of darkness from which all death and destruction flows, or I can choose to claim and proclaim the Kingdom of Light (the Kingdom of Heaven which dwells within me) from which all life and blessing flows.
I choose love, mercy, grace, and righteousness today. I choose to live from the Kingdom within, rejecting death and embracing life.
I choose…
