The Apostle Paul, in 1 Corinthians 3:6 made a statement which Daddy has been using in my life a lot lately. Paul said, “I planted the seed and Apollos watered it, but God made it grow.” (BSB) I need to be reminded quite often that I am in a partnership with my Daddy, and many times with other believers. The way in which I fully experience the fruit of my Daddy’s promises is to stay in my lane and let Him do what only He can do. I am expected to plant and water seeds (truth), but only my Daddy (God) can produce the desired results.
David began in Psalm 3 by recognizing his current troublesome situation. He immediately ran to his heavenly Father with his problem, but he didn’t stop there. David knew that he was in a partnership. He recognized that had a part to play. He needed to sow the seed of faith as he trusted in God and his promises, and water those seeds by proclaiming that he would not allow fear to control his life.
In verses 1 – 4 David was planting the seed for his divine deliverance. In verses 5 – 6 he was watering those seeds by making “faith confessions” based on his trust in God and His Word. Now in verse 7 David is acknowledging that it is God who “gives the increase.” David knows that while he plays a critical part in living in his destiny, it is God that brings it to fruition. It is the Lord that “saves” me. The battle belongs to the Lord. In Him I am more than a conqueror. I am an overcomer. In Him I am triumphant in all things. He is the one who lays hurt on anything that comes against me.
I am the father of 4 wonderful children. They are all independent adults today, but I am still the first to take a stand against anyone, or anything, that tries to do them harm. You don’t mess with a Daddy’s kids! It is that way in my relationship with my Daddy (my Heavenly Abba Father). Even though I am a full grown son of God with the ability to stand up for myself, it is still true that if you want to mess with me you will have to go through my Daddy first. According to David, He will knock you up side the head! He will knock you into next week and when you wake up you won’t be able to recognize who you are! My Daddy loves everybody, but that doesn’t mean that he will let anybody mess with His children.
