… “I agree to disagree without becoming disagreeable.”
We need to learn how to have different opinions without dividing. Again, we have to agree to disagree without becoming disagreeable.
Staying agreeable in spirit is tough, especially in areas that will divide…
…Doctrinal areas;
…Theological areas;
…Belief areas…
…Core Value areas.
It may be tough, but it is desperately needed. A house divided will fall.
There are some areas a person just shouldn’t compromise in. Those areas are going to cause some kind of division or seperation. But even in that setting we need to seek unity. We need to seek compassion. We need to seek forgiveness and remain humble. Iron sharpens iron as opoosing forces rub up against each other as a sharpening tool. However, iron destroys iron if it is used as a hammer or an axe.
I for one am trying to learn how to be able to disagree, even in important areas, without becoming disagreeable. I would encourage you to do the same.
