“For the LORD is good, and his loving devotion endures forever; His faithfulness continues to all generations.” (Psalm 100:5 BSB)
“”We know how much God loves us, and we have put our trust in his love, God is love, and all who live in love live in God, and God lives in them.” (1 John 4:16 NLT)
“I run to you, LORD, for protection. Don’t dissappoint me. You do what is right, so come to my rescue.” (Psalm 71:1-2 CEV)
The Bible says that Moses knew the “ways” of God, but the Israelites only knew the “acts” of God. Because Moses knew God as He truly was, He was willing to go right up face to face with God in the Mountain. The people, because they didn’t know who God was, only knew what they thought He was based on their interpretation of things they saw with their eyes. Because they didn’t understand what they were seeing they thought, “This is one angry, mean God.”
Because of the Israelites flawed view of God, when He offered through Moses to meet with them they said, “No way! You go Moses. We don’t want to get near Him, if we do we’ll die!” But again, Moses knowing who God was, he didn’t have that kind of fear. He had a reverence for God. He was awestruck by God. But he wasn’t afraid of God.
I’m persuaded that most people that reject God are not actually rejecting God. I believe they are rejecting the portrait of God that we have painted. God is a Good God. He is a Loving God. He is for us, never against us.
There was a day in which any time that I was not living just the way that I thought God wanted I would run and hide. I was content just to hang out in the shadows and let someone else deal with Him. At best, I just tried not to make waves. Today, regardless of how I am living at the moment I run to God. No matter how I am feeling I want to be near Him. Now that I know him, and not just my flawed view of how I thought he acted, I can’t get enough of Him.
