“The tongue has the power of life and death, and those who love it will eat its fruit.” (Proverbs 18:21 NIV)
“The good person out of the good treasure of his heart produces good, and the evil person out of his evil treasure produces evil, for out of the abundance of the heart his mouth speaks.” (Luke 6:45 ESV)
“For as he thinks in his heart, so is he…” (Proverbs 23:7a NKJV)
This is one of those days in which it would be very easy to pull the covers over my head and stay in bed. There’s nothing actually the matter, I just lack motivation. That makes today a perfect day to start out with some self-talk.
I have found that the best way to motivate myself is to speak out loud words of encouragement. It is even more effective if I do it while looking at myself in the mirror. Try it with me. Join me in saying the following…
…I’m awake! I’m alive! I’m excited!
You can do better than that. Let’s keep going…
…This is the day the Lord has made, I will rejoice and be glad in it!
Better, but I know you can do even better than that. Don’t worry about feeling a little foolish, it’s OK. here we go…
…Sorrow may last for the night, but joy comes in the morning!
…Rejoice in the Lord always, and again I say rejoice!
…I am filled with the peace that passes all understanding and it’s keeping guard over my heart and mind!
Wow! I don’t know about you, but I am starting to feel better about the day. There’s more…
…God’s mercies are new every morning!
Speak to yourself today. Give yourself a pep talk. Look yourself in the eyes and motivate yourself to be the best you can be. Speak what you desire regardless of how you are currently thinking or feeling.
Remind yourself that God is Good and God is Love. He is for you and never against you. He wants you to have the best day ever!
Remind yourself that today is the first day of the rest of your life. And remind yourself that the best is yet to come!
Keep practicing…
