“Therefore, whatever you want men to do to you, do also to them, for this is the Law and the Prophets.” (Matthew 7:1 NKJV)
“Moses responded, “Then show me your glorious presence.” The LORD replied, “I will make all my goodness pass before you, and I will call out my name, Yahweh, before you. For I will show mercy to anyone I choose, and I will show compassion to anyone I choose.” (Exodus 33:18-19 NLT)
“Or do you despise the riches of His goodness, forbearance, and longsuffering, not knowing that the goodness of God leads you to repentance?” (Romans 2:4 NKJV)
The Bible talks about filling the earth with God’s glory. For many years I could not understand that. What in the world is God’s glory? Can I feel it? Is it visible? Does it have a distinctive taste or smell? Again I ask, “What is God’s glory?”
After a good amount of seeking, God showed me that His glory is actually his goodness. When God wants to express his glory, he expresses it through acts of kindness, through goodness.
God’s desire has always been to fill this earth with his goodness. We see this most clearly in the person of Jesus Christ who went about doing good and healing all who were oppressed of the devil. God’s goodness brings men and women to repentance. Repentance is changing the way I think. It’s aligning my thoughts with the mind of Christ. It’s aligning my thoughts, my words, and my actions with those of God.
The primary way that God fills this world with his glory is through filling this earth with his goodness, and one of the main ways he does that is through his children.
I challenge myself, and I challenge you today, go around doing acts of kindness. Do good. When we do good we are starting to fill the earth with God’s glory.
