“Never stop praying” (1 Thessalonians 5:17 NLT)
”So let us come boldly to the throne of our gracious God. There we will receive his mercy, and we will find grace to help us when we need it most.” (Hebrews 4:16 NLT)
“Therefore I say to you, whatever things you ask when you pray, believe that you receive them, and you will have them.” (Mark 11:24 NKJV)
We are going to finish our time in Paul’s prayer for the Colossians with steps 2 and 3 of our outline…
…Step 2: Personalize the prayer with the guidance of the Holy Spirit.
Here it is…
Father in Heaven,
I am coming to you today with a heart that is overflowing with thanksgiving to you for all of those you have placed in my life to encourage my life and ministry. Their faith in your Son Jesus, and love for those who follow him warms my heart. I can see in them the reality of your Gospel which is just as real and powerful as it was when it was first delivered. It is my deepest desire that as we join together in sharing your Gospel that you will change hearts and lives everywhere. We are coworkers with Jesus to spread the Good News of your Kingdom throughout the Earth.
I am praying Father that you would fill us with the perfect knowledge of your design and desire for us. Each of us has been given an assignment according to your good pleasure. Help us to know what that assignment is and to carry it out with you to the best of our ability. I declare over each person sharing in this prayer that they are filled with every kind of wisdom and spiritual understanding.
I commit to living in the righteousness that you have made me to be in Jesus. I pray that each one touched by this prayer will do the same. May we please you in everything we do. As we do this we claim by faith that we are becoming fruit bearing branches. We are the branches and Jesus is the vine. In him we bear much fruit in and for your Kingdom. We submit to the Holy Spirit in order to mature and know you in your fullness.
Finally, I pray that each one praying this with me will be energized with explosive Holy Spirit power from your realm of magnificent glory, your goodness manifested in their lives as a demonstration of your glory to all who come into contact with them. Living in this way fills each of us with great hope.
We have been set completely free from the enemy and his host. He no longer has any power or authority in our lives. Devil – we resist you in Jesus Name. You have already lost. Take your hands off my brothers and sisters and run away. I command you to GO! In Jesus Name.
Thank you, Father, for translating us out of the domain of darkness into the Kingdom of your Son and canceling all of our sins through the redemption that we have received through the blood of Jesus. We have been saved, delivered, healed, and set free. Thank you!
I pray this in Jesus Name.
Amen (so be it)
…Step 3: Pray the prayer through the power of the Holy Spirit.
Let’s pray together.
My challenge to anyone reading this is that you will allow the Holy Spirit to lead you in personalizing Paul’s prayer and pray it in faith for yourself and anyone that you are led to pray for.
Thank you Holy Spirit for…
