“But Jesus knew their thoughts, and said to them: “Every kingdom divided against itself is brought to desolation, and every city or house divided against itself will not stand.” (Matthew 12:25 NKJV)
“Again I say to you that if two of you agree on earth concerning anything that they ask, it will be done for them by My Father in heaven. For where two or three are gathered together in My name, I am there in the midst of them.” (Matthew 18:19-20 NKJV)
“Open my eyes, that I may see wondrous things from Your law.” (Psalm 119:18 NKJV)
Open my eyes Lord!
My mind cannot fully comprehend the Trinity, but one thing I know…
…The Father, Son, and Holy Spirit are One. They are not divided in any way.
There is no angry Father zapping humanity while a loving Son runs around cleaning up his mess.
Jesus is our intercessor. He is NOT pleading our case with His angry Father in order to protect us from his wrath. He is enforcing our salvation by entering into agreement with his Father on our behalf for our complete rescue and deliverance from our enemy in order for us to experience our full inheritance (the benefits of the Kingdom of Heaven)
Matthew 12:25
“But Jesus knew their thoughts, and said to them: “Every kingdom divided against itself is brought to desolation, and every city or house divided against itself will not stand.”
Matthew 18:19-20
“Again I say to you that if two of you agree on earth concerning anything that they ask, it will be done for them by My Father in heaven. For where two or three are gathered together in My name, I am there in the midst of them.” .
These verses apply to the Trinity just like they apply to us.The Father, Son, and Holy Spirit are in perfect union. They do not contradict each other.
Misinterpreting the Old Testament has wreaked havoc on our understanding of the Father. The Old Testament is “veiled” and can only be understood through the “Mind of Christ” revealed by the Holy Spirit.
Reading the Old Testament through the “veil” distorts the image and actions of our Father. This distortion has done great damage to our relationship with the One who created us and longs to participate in our lives as our Creator and our Father.
Moses knew the “ways” of God (his true nature – love; and character – goodness/kindness) and was able to talk with him face to face as a friend.
The Israelites only knew their veiled perception of the “acts” of God and were terrified to go near him in fear of death.
I cannot see the Father unless I see him through the face of Jesus.
I cannot hear the Father unless I hear him through the voice of Jesus.
When I read the Old Testament with the veil lifted through the revelation of the Mind of Christ by the Holy Spirit I see things in a whole new light. I see a God who loved his creation so much that he was willing to do whatever had to be done (no matter what the cost or level of personal pain) to protect the bloodline of the coming Messiah in order to “save” his children.
Old Testament or New; Father, Son, and Holy Spirit have always and only stepped into human history to save and never to condemn.
Just like Jesus in the garden of Gethsemane, the Father agonized to the point of sweating drops of blood whenever preserving the future of his creation required the loss of human life (Jesus only did what he saw his Father do, even in the garden). Just like with the Cross, death was only considered when all other options were exhausted and there was no other choice.
Let Jesus lift the veil and show you the Father as he truly is.
God is Love.
God is Good.
God never changes.
Hopefully we are beginning to see more clearly as we read…
