“I observed everything going on under the sun, and really, it is all meaningless—like chasing the wind.” (Ecclesiastes 1:14 NLT)
“…The LORD gave, and the LORD has taken away; blessed be the name of the LORD.” (Job 1:21 ESV)
“Be diligent to present yourself approved to God, a worker who does not need to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth.” (2 Timothy 2:15 NKJV)
Here is a response that I received from someone close to me when I sent a text pertaining to reading through a veil…
…“Just 1 point to ponder. The Holy Spirit moved in truth. He saw the heart and words of the prophet writing. Daddy has always been precise (able to discern between spirit and soul). Why wouldn’t He have had the prophet make the needed correction?”
Here is my answer…
“I completely agree that the Spirit “moved in truth.” I also agree that he has “always been precise.” I don’t think he corrects the prophet when his intent is to accurately convey the prophets error.
I think we make the mistake of thinking that “inspiration” of scripture means that everything written is “truth” when it may be “truthfully” revealed “error” given for our benefit. For example…
…Based on his flawed understanding of what he was experiencing Job stated that “the Lord gave and the Lord has taken away.” The clear revelation of the book of Job itself shows that this was an error (the Lord gave, the devil took it away). It was given to reveal religious error in order to keep those reading it from repeating that error. Yet, many use it today as foundational truth to support a flawed understanding of sovereignty.
Much of Ecclesiastes does the same. It reveals the error of having an “under the sun” naturalist perspective of life. Solomon shared “divine wisdom” in Proverbs and then at times contradicted it with “human reasoning” in the book of Ecclesiastes. Both are truthfully inspired scripture. One revealing truth and the other revealing error.
Think a bit deeper as you consider…
