Eric’s Life Lesson # 509: I’m not listening!

Posted on July 17, 2026July 17, 2026 by Eric Raby

“Bless the Lord, O my soul; and all that is within me, bless His holy name! Bless the Lord, O my soul, and forget not all His benefits: who forgives all your iniquities, who heals all your diseases, who redeems your life from destruction, who crowns you with lovingkindness and tender mercies, who satisfies your mouth with good things, so that your youth is renewed like the eagle’s.” (Psalm 103:1-5 NKJV)

“Have you not known? Have you not heard? The everlasting God, the Lord, the Creator of the ends of the earth, neither faints nor is weary. His understanding is unsearchable. He gives power to the weak, and to those who have no might He increases strength. Even the youths shall faint and be weary, and the young men shall utterly fall, but those who wait on the Lord shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings like eagles, they shall run and not be weary, they shall walk and not faint.” (Isaiah 40:28-31 NKJV)

“All Scripture is God-breathed and is useful for instruction, for conviction, for correction, and for training in righteousness,” (2 Timothy 3:16 BSB)

Why do I keep hearing people say that my body has to wear out with age when I have Spirit inspired written accounts of people whose bodies never weakened, deteriorated, or wore out with age?

Why do I keep hearing that everyone will die, when I have Spirit inspired written accounts of people who never died? (In Scripture Jesus even said that I would not die and challenged me with the question, “do you believe this?”)

“Jesus said to her, “I am the resurrection and the life. He who believes in Me, though he may die, he shall live. And whoever lives and believes in Me shall never die. Do you believe this?” She said to Him, “Yes, Lord, I believe that You are the Christ, the Son of God, who is to come into the world.” (John 11:25-27 NKJV)

“Most assuredly, I say to you, he who believes in Me has everlasting life. I am the bread of life. Your fathers ate the manna in the wilderness, and are dead. This is the bread which comes down from heaven, that one may eat of it and not die. I am the living bread which came down from heaven. If anyone eats of this bread, he will live forever; and the bread that I shall give is My flesh, which I shall give for the life of the world.” (John 6:47-51 NKJV)

Could it be that my enemy, the one behind all sickness, decay, degradation, deterioration, and death is trying to deceive me?

I reject the  “normal” aging process (“Normal” by what standard? Certainly not the Kingdom of heaven standard of “normal.”) and refuse to accept death (after all, there is no death in the Kingdom in which I am living.)!

I fervently expect to live a strong, long life worth living with nothing broken and nothing missing, with not even a hint of sin, sickness, or death consciousness!

I choose to live in full consciousness of the righteousness  of God, abundant life, and Kingdom of Heaven blessings that have been freely deposited within me.

I am in Christ, in union with Jesus, and emphatically answer His question, “Yes Jesus I believe You. I will live and not die!”

How about you? What determines your life expectancy? What are your thoughts about…
