“But I rejoiced in the Lord greatly, that now at last you have revived your concern for me; indeed, you were concerned before, but you lacked an opportunity to act. Not that I speak from need, for I have learned to be content in whatever circumstances I am. I know how to get along with little, and I also know how to live in prosperity; in any and every circumstance I have learned the secret of being filled and going hungry, both of having abundance and suffering need. I can do all things through Him who strengthens me. Nevertheless, you have done well to share with me in my difficulty.” (Philippians 4:10-14 NASB)
“Each time he said, “My grace is all you need. My power works best in weakness.” So now I am glad to boast about my weaknesses, so that the power of Christ can work through me.” (2 Corinthians 12:9 NLT)
“Let us not grow weary in well-doing, for in due time we will reap a harvest if we do not give up.” (Galatians 6:9 BSB)
Today’s Challenge: “Content but never satisfied.”
I challenged myself many years ago to live a life in which I am filled with joy and thankfulness regardless of my current condition or circumstance (i.e. content), yet always working on making things better no matter how good or bad it is today (i.e. never satisfied).
I realized recently that I had not been living in either of these for quite some time. That has now changed.
Life without contentment is a life robbed of joy, peace, and happiness. However, thinking that contentment equates to satisfaction leads to a false sense of accomplishment and completion which stops improvement and progress.
Today is OK even if it stinks, but tomorrow will be better even if today is sweet.
