Eric’s Life Lesson # 514: 20-20

Posted on July 22, 2026July 22, 2026 by Eric Raby

“What I always feared has happened to me. What I dreaded has come true.” (Job 3:25 NLT)

“My people are destroyed for lack of knowledge. Because you have rejected knowledge, I also will reject you from being priest for Me; Because you have forgotten the law of your God, I also will forget your children.” (Hosea 4:6 NKJV)

“making the word of God of no effect through your tradition which you have handed down. And many such things you do.” (Mark 7:13 NKJV)

Over the last 3 or 4 years my Daddy (my Heavenly Abba-Father/Daddy-Papa) has been progressively revealing to me how much theft, death, and destruction I have allowed the enemy to bring into my life, and the life of my family. This has happened through fear, lack of knowledge, and religious tradition. As He has been opening my eyes to the  “darkened counsel” (wrong thinking) that has opened the door to the enemy, He has been simultaneously giving me “illumination” through revelation of His Truth. This Truth is enabling me to slam the door shut on the enemy.

It is interesting how many of us, who are in the dark when it comes to believing that sin, sickness, deterioration from aging, and death are inevitable and to be expected in life, have developed doctrines and theologies to prove and confirm our conclusions based on our personal experience or what we see and hear all around us.

Like many, I had misinterpreted Paul’s writing about his “thorn in the flesh,” Job’s experience defined through his “darkened counsel” in which he wrongly concluded that “the Lord gives and the Lord takes away,” and Solomon’s conclusions on life that he shared in the book of Ecclesiastes. Most of his conclusions were drawn from natural/earthly thinking developed during the years in which he turned his back on Divine Wisdom and chose to depend on possessions and experiences for meaning and purpose in a desperate attempt at finding satisfaction and happiness from all of the wrong places.

While the life and teaching of Jesus completely contradicts what so many of us expect out of life, rather than conforming to Jesus, we far too often build doctrines to change how we view Jesus and what He said. At least, I know I have.

If it isn’t life, increase, abundance, good, and beneficial, it isn’t Jesus!

Holy Spirit – please take over and get us where we need to be from…
