“And we know that God causes everything to work together for the good of those who love God and are called according to his purpose for them.” (Romans 8:28 NLT)
“You plotted evil against me, but God turned it into good, in order to preserve the lives of many people who are alive today because of what happened.” (Genesis 50:20 GNT)
“For I know the plans I have for you,” says the LORD. “They are plans for good and not for disaster, to give you a future and a hope.” (Jeremiah 29:11 NLT”)
Sometimes we get so caught up arguing over “right” and “wrong” that we miss what really matters. I don’t think it is so much about what is right or wrong, as it is about what is best. We were originally designed to live forever in harmony within a perfect environment. Life truly was “Heaven on Earth.” The original man and woman were living in unity with nature, each other, and their Creator. They were living in the center of the Lord’s desire for their lives, according to His design. Everything was wonderful. Then they listened to the deceiver who told them that their Creator did not have their best interest in mind. He encouraged them to take things in their own hands, and do things their own way. By following bad advice, in a moment’s time, they went from living in perfection to hiding in fear and shame.
We have all had times when we have blown it. We think we are doing something that will make our lives better, or increase our pleasure, and we wake up to the disaster and destruction that we brought into our lives. Sadly, once my eggs are scrambled, I can’t unscramble them. But wait, the Master Chef can make them into an incredibly delicious omelette.
It is never too late to turn things around. I know from first hand experience that things can always get better. It begins with the realization that God is good, and His intentions for me are only good. Whatever “rules” He put into play when He created me were to set me up for the best possible life experience. I have learned that the farther I wander from the Lord’s desire and design for my life, the more miserable I become.
I have tried it on my own, doing things my own way. Whatever positive results I may have experienced were short lived. I have tried it His way, and the result is joy beyond measure, peace that passes understanding, and the absence of guilt and shame.
The Lord truly does have my best interest in mind. His plans for me do give me a future and a hope. He surely can make all things work together for good. Which is why I am on board with…
…Eric’s Life Lesson # 22: “You’ve heard it said, ‘You can’t unscramble eggs.’ Well, I say, ‘Turn them into a delicious omelette.”
Awesome Word!
