“Because you have made the LORD, who is my refuge, even the Most High, your dwelling place,” (Psalm 91:9 NKJV)
“When we live our lives within the shadow of God Most High, our secret hiding place,” (Psalm 91:9 TPT)
“If you make the LORD your refuge, if you make the Most High your shelter,” (Psalm 91:9 NLT)
“Because you have made the LORD, [who is] my refuge, even the Most High, your dwelling place,” (Psalm 91:9 AMP)
“Because you have made the LORD – my refuge, the Most High – your dwelling place,” (Psalm 91:9 HCSB)
“Because you are LORD JEHOVAH my trust, for you have set your dwelling on high,” (Psalm 91:9 ABIPE)
So what has Daddy revealed to me in Psalm 91:1-8?…
…He is my refuge.
…He is my shelter.
…He is my protector.
…He is my deliverer.
…He is my shield.
Therefore…
…I will make Him my dwelling place.
…I will abide in Him.
…I will speak His truth and activate His blessings.
…I will trust Him.
…I will not be afraid.
Even though…
…There is an enemy out to get me.
…There are attacks during the day.
…There are terrors at night.
…A thousand fall at my side.
…Ten thousand die at my right hand.
As for me…
…I will dwell in the secret place.
…I will abide under His shadow.
…I will be courageous.
…I will not experience the destruction that surrounds me.
…I will see, but not touch, the judgment of the wicked.
Verse 9 circles back to what I was introduced to in verses 1 and 2. This time the emphasis is on my responsibility in my partnership with Daddy. In verses 1 and 2 Daddy reveals Himself and His place of safety and protection available to me. Verse 9 begins by saying, “Because you have made.” This points to the need of a decision on my part. Even with everything that Daddy has provided, I still have the freedom to walk away. Just like walking out into the rain and choosing to leave my umbrella in the car, I can look at the destruction all around me, take note of the shelter that has been provided, and walk directly into the chaos. Experiencing the benefits of verses 1 – 8, and the following verse 10, hinge on the choice of verse 9. This reminds me of Deuteronomy 30:19…
“I call heaven and earth as witnesses against you today that I have set before you life and death, blessing and cursing. Therefore choose life, so that you and your descendants may live.” The choice is mine.
Let’s choose life as we consider…
