“Because He has set his love upon me; therfore I will deliver him: I will set him on high, because he has known my name.” (Psalm 91:14 NKJV)
“For here is what the Lord has spoken to me; ‘Because you loved me, delighted in me, and have been loyal to my name, I will greatly protect you.”
“The LORD says, ‘I will rescue those who love me. I will protect those who trust in my name.” (Psalm 91:14 NLT)
“Because he has set his love on Me, therefore I will save him; I will set him [securely] on high, because he knows My name [he confidently trusts and relies on Me, knowing I will never abandon him, no never].” (Psalm 91:14 AMP)
“Because he is lovingly devoted to me, I will deliver him; I will protect him; I will protect him because he knows my name.” (Psalm 91:14 HCSB)
“Because he seeks me, I shall save him; I shall strengthen him, because he knows my Name.” (Psalm 91:14 ABIPE)
As I have been reading through Psalm 91 the theme of divine protection has been pounding its way into my heart and mind. Verse 14 shares a couple of clues as to how to see this protection applied directly to me regardless of my current situation or condition. This protection is applied through relationship. The enemy wants me to keep trying to find it through religious formulas, knowing that formulas will ultimately fail me.
Clue #1: Love:
Everything that my Daddy wants me to have, He has already given me. Everything that the Kingdom of Heaven has to offer is already deposited in my heart (spirit). As long as the enemy can get me to think that I need to reach out and get what I already have, he can keep me from experiencing this protection. When I realize that in His great love for me, my Daddy has already privided everything, I am able to get beyond the enemies deception and simply rest in my Daddy’s love. He has “set His love on me.” Now, all I need to do to begin experieincing His protection is simply love Him back.
“Since he did not spare even his own Son but gave him up for us all, won’t he also give us everything?” (Romans 8:32 NLT)
Clue #2: Name:
All of my Daddy’s provision and protection is found in His Name. He has given me His Name in order for me to activate what I possess in my relationship with Him. The New Testament takes up this idea and makes it clear that the Name that I have been given in order to bring everything that my Daddy has given me alive in my life is the Name of Jesus. Having been given this name gives me legal authority to function in everything that the Name represents. When I step out in faith and use the Name of Jesus everything that comes against me must submit to the authority of that name. When I resist my enemy in Jesus Name he runs in stark terror. When I use the Name of Jesus sickness and disease must leave. With the Name of Jesus I am able to calm the storms of life. The Name protects me from anything that comes against me.
“For this reason also [because he obeyed and so completely humbled Himself], God has highly exalted Him and bestowed on Him the name which is above every name, so that at the name of Jesus EVERY KNEE SHALL BOW [in submission], of those who are in heaven and on earth, and under the earth, and that every tongue will confess and openly acknowledge that Jesus Christ is Lord (sovereign God), to the glory of God the Father.” (Philippians 2:9-11 AMP)
