“All the sheep and oxen – even the beasts of the field, The birds of the air, and the fish of the sea that pass through the paths of the seas” (Psalm 8:7-8 NKJV)
“All the created order and every living thing of the earth, sky, and sea – the wildest beasts and all that move in the paths of the sea – everything is in submission to Adam’s sons.” (Psalm 8:7-8 TPT)
“The flocks and the herds and all the wild animals, the birds in the sky, the fish in the sea, and everything that swims in the ocean currents.” (Psalm 8:7-8 NLT)
“All sheep and oxen, and also the beasts of the field, the birds of the air, and the fish of the sea, whatever passes through the paths of the seas.” (Psalms 8:7-8 AMP)
“All the sheep and oxen, as well as the animals in the wild, the birds of the sky, and the fish of the sea that pass through the currents of the seas.” (Psalm 8:7-8 HCSB)

In Psalm 8:7-8 David is giving further explanation of what he stated in verse 6. I was created in the image of my Father, the Creator of everything. He made my body out of the elements of His material creation (the earth). He breathed Himself into that body creating a “living soul.” I am a son of God. I was created to partner with my Daddy in ruling and reigning over His creation. He delegated His authority to me and commissioned me to rule nature, subdue the enemy, take dominion, and fill this earth with His glory (expand the Kingdom of Heaven throughout the planet). Jesus referred to that as “making disciples of nations.”
I think that The Passion Translation catches the heart of the matter better than any other translation I have read. “All the created order…everything is in submission to Adam’s sons.” “Sons” is a general term that represents all of the human race. My position within God’s “created order” is further clarified when I compare what is written in this Psalm with what is written in Psalm 115:16, “The heaven, even the heavens, are the LORD’s; but the earth He has given to the children of men.” (NKJV) I again prefer The Passion Translation, “The heavens belong to our God; they are his alone, but he has given us the earth and put us in charge.” I think that about says it all.
Knowing that the earth belongs to me, and that I have been given the authority to rule over it, that I am in charge, makes a huge impact on how I view my purpose and power for living. I have far more power over what takes place in my life than I have ever imagined. When I open my heart and mind to the truth of the Word, and act upon that truth, I can change my destiny.
There is so much more to say, however, t is not my intention to dig deeply into this life changing truth at this time. I am simply trying to help motivate whoever is reading this to go further with the Holy Spirit into the Truth of the Word.
Holy Spirit, please reveal the truth of these verses to us. Radically change our lives as we continue to ponder…
